
An Indian man has been arrested after being found in possession of 4.5 million rupees worth of heroin.
The man, identified as 40-year-old Santipada Pal from the Nadia district, was apprehended by the Narcotic Cell on Sunday, with approximately 400 grams of heroin in his possession.
On the incident, a Narcotic Cell statement, published on Monday morning, read: "Acting on a credible source of information, the officers and men of Narcotic Cell, Detective Department with the assistance of Monitoring Cell conducted a raid.
“They succeeded to apprehend Santipada on September 15 with approximately 400 grams brownish powder, said to be heroin, in his possession, for which he could not render any satisfactory account.
“He will be produced in Sealdah Court today.”
The case was registered at Narkeldanga police station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
