Indian woman arrested for posing as groom for dowry

Police in India have arrested a woman for allegedly posing as a groom in order to collect dowries.

Krishna Sen was taken into custody in the northern state of Uttarakhand, accused of demanding dowry, which is illegal in India.

It is believed the 26-year-old has been masquerading as a man since 2014 and has since duped two women into marriage.

Her former in-laws lodged a police complaint against her, leading to interrogation. Police said they initially did not understand what Ms Sen was telling them until they conducted a medical examination and found she is female.
