Karachi deputy mayor disqualified after switching party

    The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has disqualified the deputy mayor of Karachi after he switched his allegiance to a different political party.

    Arshad Vohra had gained the position on the ticket of Muttahida Qaumi Movement- Pakistan. He later joined Pak Sarzameen Party, infuriating his former party, which then moved the ECP.

    An official indicated that the next deputy mayor will be from the MQM and someone who hails from Karachi.
