Special powers handed to the Rangers of Karachi to tackle terrorism have been extended.
The powers which were earlier given to them three months ago in July were due to expire today, 12 October, but a new 90-day period extension has been announced, which will begin tomorrow.
The special powers granted to the paramilitary force under the Anti-Terrorism Act, allow them to patrol sensitive areas, snap check vehicles and carry out raids against criminals and suspected terrorists with no required consent.
