The death toll from floods and landslides in Kerala has risen to 37.
Reports say the heavy rains in the southern Indian state have created the worst natural calamity in the region in over nine decades, which has seen around 55,000 people evacuated to relief camps.
Authorities were forced to open the shutters on the Idukki reservoir - Asia’s biggest arch dam - for the first time in 26 years due to the incessant rainfall.
Water levels are said to be abating but the area remains on red alert.
