Punjab's Environment Protection Department has had to take drastic action in response to smog covering Lahore.
113 factories were closed and 250 vehicles deemed harmful to the environment were fined, after Lahore was engulfed by hazardous smog ahead of the winter season for the second year in a row.
Local media reports claim the crackdown, spread over a period of 10 days, has resulted in the department collecting Rs 1.5 million in fines.
