Maid falls to death from 9th floor in Bangalore

A maid has fallen to her death from a 9th floor flat in the city of Bangalore.

It is believed the minor was hired as domestic assistance by the owners of the property near the Hoodi Circle.

It has been reported that her employers were out shopping, leaving the maid in charge of their 18-month-old child, and that they found the girl dead on returning. They claimed she was 20-years-of-age but conflicting statements by neighbours age the maid as 15.

Activists are now claiming that the death should also be investigated as a result of child trafficking and a violation of the Juvenile Justice Act.

Police are awaiting the arrival of the deceased’s mother from Delhi to confirm her age and are still unsure whether the incident was the result of suicide or an accident.
