Man risks lives to save children from runaway truck in India

A man in India risked his own life to save children from a runaway van.

Shiv Yadav, the driver of a school van in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh, had pulled over to relive himself at the side of the road when he realised children on the vehicle had accidently put the van in gear.

He attempted to stop the vehicle and was run over as he threw himself in front of it.

Mr Yadav is currently in a critical condition in hospital with injuries to his spine. All of the children escaped unharmed.
