The most prominent figure to be embroiled in what is being called India’s #MeToo movement has threatened legal action against his accusers.
Junior foreign minister MJ Akbar, who used to be a prominent newspaper editor, has been accused of predatory behaviour and sexual assault.
Mr Akbar, who returned from an official trip abroad on Monday, has called the allegations "false" and "baseless" – implying in a social media post that they may even be politically motivated ahead of general elections.
He also added that he will not be stepping down from his post.
