An investigation has been launched after it transpired that the killing of a man at the hands of a mob in Karachi was initiated by a government official.
22-year-old Ali Raza was killed and his cousin wounded after a gang of locals rounded on them and attacked.
It is alleged a federal government employee and a friend were involved in an altercation with the two men following a minor road traffic collision. The wounded cousin claims the two men beat them and informed people in the area they were “bandits”.
Police have opened a case against the accused government official and efforts are underway to arrest the culprits.
