Mobile services in Indian-administered Kashmir have been restored 72 days after they were suspended.
The Indian government suspended mobile phone connections, landlines and internet in the region before revoking Article 370, stripping the region of its special status, on 5 August.
An estimated four million mobiles have once again become operational, but prepaid connections have not yet been restored.
Speaking on the matter, Indian author Marryam Reshii wrote on Twitter, saying: “The sweetest sound in the entire universe: the sound of a friend picking up a postpaid mobile phone in Kashmir after 2 months with a greeting to the interlocutor.
However, Internet services continue to be suspended in the region.
