Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan has been left off the invitation list for Narendra Modi’s oath-taking ceremony.
Modi’s BJP and its allies won a landslide victory in India’s general victory, securing him a second term as prime minister.
Representatives from neighbouring nations have been invited to his inauguration on Thursday 30 May, with the notable absence of Khan.
The move sends out a strong signal that Delhi is not ready to fully engage with Islamabad following a rise in tensions that flared over incidents in the disputed region of Kashmir earlier this year.
