At least one person was killed in a protest triggered by the death of a gangster in Rajasthan.
Reports say 32 people were also injured, including more than 20 policemen, when the protest turned violent in the Nagaur district on Wednesday, 12 July.
Sources say a rally had been organised by locals from the Rajput community, demanding an investigation in to the death of gangster Anandpal Singh.
Anandpal was killed in an encounter with police on 24 June. The gangster, who belonged to the Rajput community, was on the run since September 2015 after escaping from police custody.
It is believed he had more than three dozen criminal cases against him, including six of murder.
An estimated crowd of 50,000 people gathered at Saanvrad, the home-village of the gangster. Officials say police vehicles were pelted with stones and one was set on fire.
A curfew was imposed on the area in the hope of quelling any further violence.
