The Indian army claimed that it bombed Pakistani army posts on the de facto border between the two countries in Kashmir yesterday, 23 May.
An army spokesperson said the action had been taken to stop Pakistan's army from assisting militants with crossing the border into Indian-administered Kashmir.
Pakistan has however denied any of its posts being destroyed.
Tension is high between the two countries over Kashmir and other issues.
There has been an upsurge in violence in Indian-administered Kashmir over the last few months, including the pelting of security forces with stones during mass protests. India has blamed Pakistan for inciting the unrest, a claim which Islamabad denies.
Relations between the two states have also deteriorated over espionage issues, with one alleged Indian spy being sentenced to execution – a case which has been taken to a UN high court.
