An accountability court in Pakistan has granted an extension to the remand of PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
The leader of the opposition was arrested on 5 October over what is being called the Ashiana Housing Scam. It is alleged Sharif awarded contracts to favourites, including a Rs14 billion contract to Lahore Casa Developer.
NAB requested the court to grant a 15-day physical remand of Sharif saying that the anti-corruption body had not yet completed its investigation.
A NAB prosecutor claims the national exchequer had suffered a loss of millions of rupees due to Sharif's "illegal steps".
