A local government leader in Pakistan has been sentenced over the rape of a 13-year-old girl three years ago.
The leader of the PML-N party in Punjab’s Taxila was handed a 20-year prison sentence and fined 100,000 rupees.
A doctor was also handed a three-year jail term for her involvement with an abortion performed on the victim.
Two brothers of the prime convict were acquitted on grounds of a lack of evidence against them.
