The prime accused suspect has been arrested in the case of two people who were lynched in India’s Assam state over child abduction rumours spread on social media.
Police say Alphajoz Timung was apprehended after being on the run for a few days.
Two men were killed by approximately 250 locals in Panjari Kachari village when they stopped to ask for directions.
Police have so far arrested 28 people in connection with the case.
An investigator claims Timung was the person who initially interacted with the two victims before they were attacked.
