Tens of thousands of protesting farmers arrived on the streets of Mumbai.
The protesters have walked 167km (103 miles) from Nashik district, with children, women and the elderly amongst their numbers.
They say the government has not implemented loan waivers promised to them last year and are demanding better prices for their produce.
It has been added that Maharashtra state has seen rapid growth but they have been left out.
The local government says it is open to talks to end the protest.
