Protests held over Zardari arrest

Protests have been held in Pakistan over the arrest of a former president.

Asif Ali Zardari was detained in Islamabad over a money laundering case. The move came after a high court rejected extending pre-arrest bail for Zardari and his sister. They are accused of hiding financial kickbacks in fake accounts.

Leaders, activists and supporters of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) held demonstrations in various cities and towns in Sindh province, alleging that Mr Zardari’s arrest was a calculated political move by the ruling PTI government.
