Locations across Lahore were brought to a standstill after protesters took to the streets over the so-called “Faizabad agreement”.
Activists from the Tekreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan party staged rallies in the city, asking for the implementation of the agreement – which includes the withdrawal of cases against party members.
In autumn last year activists staged a sit-in at the Faizabad Interchange in Islamabad in protest of the change in wording of an electoral oath. Tensions flared despite the government reversing the change and blaming the incident on a clerical error.
