Security forces have conducted the largest crackdown in Karachi’s central jail for 25 years.
According to reports drugs worth Rs. 2.5m were seized from the prison.
It was also revealed the prisoners had created ten of their own kitchens and that a group of convicts had planned to escape by using gas cylinders as explosives.
As many as 300 phones were also allegedly seized from prisoners.
The operation was conducted after two dangerous convicts escaped from the jail. Security personnel planned a thorough search operation to highlight malpractices in the prison.
