Sri Lanka’s upcoming cricket tour of Pakistan has been cast into doubt amidst security concerns
In a press release, Sri Lanka outlined concerns regarding the safety and well-being of their team, following an alleged apparent threat to their national cricket team.
The Sri Lankan team were due to leave for the tour in under two weeks, whether the tour goes ahead is dependent on a "reassessment of the security situation in Pakistan".
A board release on the matter said: “Sri Lanka Cricket today sought the assistance of the Sri Lankan government to conduct a 'reassessment' of the security situation in Pakistan ahead of the national team's planned tour to Pakistan.
"The decision was taken following a warning SLC received from the Prime Minister's office, sent via the Ministry of Telecommunication, Foreign Employment and Sports.”
Should the tour go ahead the first match will be played on September 27 in Karachi.
