Six people have died and a further two people have been recorded as missing following floods in Kashmir.
Heavy rain and snowfall has led to avalanches and raging torrents throughout the region.
Helicopters were deployed to remote villages as part of a mass rescue operation, saving those who had been cut off from the rising water.
Three of the dead were soldiers based at a post in Batalik. It is reported that 17 people were successfully evacuated from the Poonch region by climbing a rope ladder onto a helicopter.
It is believed the water level is now receding and the rainfall is reducing.
