Six people have been sentenced to death in India for the murder of a man in an “honour killing”.
Sankar, a 22-year-old from the Dalit community, was hacked to death on a crowded road in the southern state of Tamil Nadu last year.
Police say he was murdered for marrying a woman from a higher Hindu caste.
One of those handed the death penalty was the bride’s father, who handed himself in and admitted to the crime.
