Solider found dead in Amritsar, India

A soldier was found dead with a gunshot to his head in a ditch in the early hours of Sunday.

Local police officers suspect it to be a suicide because Naik Kuldeep Singh's rifle was found next to his body; they are investigating the case from all angles.

Deputy Superintendent Gurpreet Singh said: “Kuldeep was to report at 4 am for duty but when he didn't turn up; his colleagues began searching for him. After about an hour, they found his body in a ditch.

A case will be registered after a thorough investigation.
