A new study into the effects of global warming has warned that vast swathes of South Asia will experience deadly levels of humidity by the year 2100.
The research, published in the journal Science Advances, indicates 30% of the population of South Asia will be exposed to dangerous, humid heatwaves.
It is believed that millions of people in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh will be subjected to temperatures on the limit of survivability.
In 2015 around 3,500 people died in India and Pakistan from an intense heatwave.
The study, which used climate change models to predict likely outcomes based on current data, outlines that these types of heatwaves will become more common if current emission levels are not curbed drastically.
