Two people have died in a blast at a 145-year-old metal & steel factory known as MSF in the Ishapore state of west Bengal.
The incident happened on Sunday at the factory that produces both ferrous and nonferrous products for use in military hardware.
A spokesperson for the ministry of defence said “they were unable to recieve much information regarding the blast however can confirm nine people suffered burn injuries due to the blast and were rushed to Command Hospital, in Kolkata, two of them have sadly passed away and the remaining seven are out of danger.
Rajnesh Juhuri, GM for the MSF the said. “We are sincerely sorry for this loss. We know the blast took place in the electric earth furnace, where we prepare steel. Two safety and fact-finding committees are investigating the matter – enquiries at this stage are ongoing."
