The prime suspect wanted in connection with the burning down of schools in Pakistan has been killed.
14 girls’ schools in the Diamer district of Gilgit-Baltistan were set on fire over a period of two days earlier in the week.
A police spokesperson said a man, identified as Shafiq, was the prime suspect in the case. He had no known association with an organised group but has been referred to by police as a ‘militant’.
During multiple search operations in the Tanger area a police officer was killed, and a civilian received injuries after they were caught in crossfire.
Police say Shafiq was killed during the operations and around 30 people were arrested.
