The three owners of the ‘1 Above’ bar in Mumbai, involved in the fire in which 14 people died, have been arrested.
A Mumbai police spokesperson said Kripesh Sanghvi and his brother Jigar Sanghvi, who were on the run since the fire broke out, were arrested from a hotel in Bandra late on Wednesday 10 January. The third partner, Abhijeet Mankar, was arrested early on Thursday morning.
They have been arrested for culpable homicide and other offences under the Indian Penal Code.
On 29 December a fire broke out in Mojo’s Bistro and spread to the adjoining 1 Above bar. One owner of Mojo’s Bistro has been arrested whilst another is allegedly still on the run.
55 people were also injured in the incident.
