At least three people were killed and several others injured in clashes in South Kashmir.
Violence erupted between civilians and security personnel in the Shopian district on Wednesday as authorities carried out what they called an anti-terror operation.
It is reported a teenage civilian was killed when officers fired into a crowd attempting to stop the operation. Local sources say two members of the Hizbul Mujahideen group were also killed.
An official claimed the militants had opened fire on security personnel first, triggering an encounter.
