Traffic was brought to a standstill in an Indian city to transport a critically-ill six-month-old boy.
Guwahati’s busiest roads were closed on Sunday, 03 September, to move a boy suffering with a rare infection of the lung and spinal cord from a regional hospital to an airport.
The child was airlifted from the city to be taken to a hospital in Delhi, where his parents believe he can receive better treatment.
45km of roads were closed to rush the boy between locations, cutting the usual travel time by over two-thirds.
The boy’s parents had made an appeal to the public through social media and local television channels to help with funds and to ensure the smooth journey to Delhi.
