Transgender women have prayed at a temple in India at the centre of controversy over women being allowed to enter.
Despite a Supreme Court ruling in September that overturned a centuries-old ban on women from the age of 10-50 being allowed to enter, women attempting to gain access to Sabarimala temple in Kerala have been denied by protesters.
A group of transgender women had been blocked from accessing the temple on Sunday 16 December by police, citing security concerns.
Four transgender women have since entered the temple with around 20 police officers and reports say they were not met with resistance.
