25 people from Multan in Pakistan have been arrested for ordering the rape of a teenage girl.
It is suspected that village councillors made the decision as revenge for a rape her brother allegedly committed.
It is claimed the boy had raped a 12-year-old girl. Officials say the council then ordered the complainant, the girl’s brother, to rape the sister of the accused, a 16-year-old girl - which police say he did.
The mothers of the two girls later filed complaints at the local police station.
There are conflicting reports as to whether those arrested were part of a Jirga – a village council – or a result of the two families joining forces to make a decision on the issue.
