Violence has erupted in West Bengal over a controversial Facebook post.
Three members of the ruling BJP political party had their entry to the area block by local government in a bid to stop the violence from becoming further politicised.
Reports say a 65-year-old man died from stab wounds during the clashes.
Since Sunday evening what have been claimed to be Muslim mobs set fire to buildings and clashed with police, due to an offensive post on Facebook by a Grade 11 Hindu student.
Yesterday, 6 July, groups of Hindus allegedly retaliated by vandalising Muslim-owned properties.
It is believed at least 23 people have been injured.
Local sources say the violence has died down but residents have blamed police and security forces for instigating the violence and acting in a partisan manner.
