A water cannon was used to disperse a crowd of protesting lawyers in Lahore.
The lawyers took to the streets today, 21 August, following the decision by the Chief Justice of Lahore High Court to suspend two lawyers for allegedly being in contempt of court proceedings.
Some sources claim the protesters threw stones at security personnel and attempted to storm the offices of the Chief Justice. Anti-riot police used water cannon and tear gas to force the mob out of the premises.
The lawyers then continued their protests on Mall Road, subsequently blocking traffic in the area.
According to officials ten people, including seven lawyers, were injured in the clashes.
Local media have quoted protesters as saying they will stage a sit-in outside the court until the Chief Justice is replaced.
