A woman has cut off the genitals of a Hindu religious teacher in the southern Indian state of Kerala.
The 23-year-old woman alleged that she was raped by the holy man for years.
Her family had invited the man into their home regularly to perform prayer rituals for her father’s health.
However, she claims that he assaulted her at every opportunity.
On Friday night, 19 May, she attacked him with a knife when he allegedly tried to rape her, and then called the police herself.
The 54-year-old alleged rapist was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery.
