Youth beaten to death on suspicion of theft

A 28-year-old male was beaten to death by a group of men after they suspected he had stolen items from haystack warehouse in the Swaroop Nagar area of Northwest Delhi on Sunday Evening. The victim’s body, which had multiple injury marks, was found in an open plot on Monday.

Police officials have confirmed with help from the witnesses, six suspects were detained for questioning – three of them confessed to beating the victim until he fell unconscious.

Milind Dumbere DCP of Delhi northwest Police said “Shankar had no criminal record and was well respected in the community. A horrendous crime has been committed and we are determined to establish the circumstances around his death. We have spoken to a number f witnesses but our enquiries are on going”
