Adam Peaty beat his own 50m breaststroke world record… twice in one day.
The 22-year-old swam the distance in 26.10 seconds during the heats of the World Aquatics Championships, beating his previous world record in the competition in 2015 of 26.42.
He made an even bigger splash in the semi-finals by beating his new record with a first ever sub-26 time of 25.95 seconds.
He spoke to BBC Sport: “I honestly can't believe it. I can't even think. I just went out there and did what I do. The hard work has gone on in the gym. I am looking for areas of where I can improve and hopefully get down to mid-25.”
