Djokovic takes historic win over Federer at Cincinnati Masters

    Former world number one Novak Djokovic has entered a new chapter int the history books by beating Roger Federer to become the first player to win all 9 Masters 1,000 tournaments.

    The 31-year-old Serb beat seven-time champion Federer 6-4 6-4 in Cincinnati.

    Djokovic had lost the Cincinnati final to the Swiss on three previous occasions but put Federer under pressure from the first set to take victory.

    Djokovic will now look to take his form into the US Open, which starts on 27 August, having previously won two titles at Flushing Meadows.
