Triple world champion Elise Christie is set to return to the ice at the opening short track speed skating World Cup this weekend.
The Scot has not competed since the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in February. Christie, 28, widely regarded as one of the best in her sport, came away from the games bitterly disappointed after falling in the 500m final and 1500m short track semi-finals, and being disqualified from the 1,000m heats.
She injured ankle ligaments in the 1500m and has spent the summer recovering.
In the World Cup competition in Calgary, Canada Christie will only skate in the new mixed gender relay.
She wrote on social media: "It represents where I want to get back to mentally, happy and ready to challenge the best in the world.
"Having only started full training not long ago I'm focused on knuckling down and getting back to my best self".
