The English Football Association (FA) is set to trial ‘sin bins’ next season.
The likes of Harry Kane will not be seen being sent to the bench for a time-out quite yet though – the trials will only take place in the lower leagues first.
In the new plans, yellow cards shown for dissent will also result in players being told to leave the field for 10 minutes.
Already a feature of rugby, the trials will also take place in Sunday League and both male and female youth football.
The FA hopes to canvass opinion from across the sport to inform any future decisions on the adoption of the feature.
