Harry Tanfield claimed victory on stage one of the Tour de Yorkshire.
The British Canyon Eisberg rider spent much of the day in a breakaway that surprised the peloton by sticking it out until the finish.
Tanfield, 23, won in a sprint for the line, with Alistair Slater in second and fellow Briton Michael Cuming in third.
The race leader’s blue jersey will be on the shoulders of Tanfield for stage two, with a three second advantage over Slater.
Friday's stage starts in Barnsley and end with the race's first summit finish at the Cow and Calf Rocks on Ilkley Moor.
