The man in pole position for the Indy 500 race on Sunday, 28 May, was robbed at gunpoint.
Scott Dixon was the victim of a robbery at a fast-food restaurant hours after securing pole.
The 36-year-old New Zealander was in a car with retired British racer, Dario Franchitti, when the incident happened in Speedway, Indiana.
Witnesses have said a gun was held to Dixon’s head whilst he ordered food with the window down.
Two boys, aged 15 and 14, were later arrested.
Dixon will attempt to win the Indy 500 for the second time on Sunday.
