Joey Barton has been banned from football after admitting a Football Association charge in relation to betting.
The Burnley midfielder has been suspended for 18 months, a length of time that he believes will force him into early retirement.
The 34-year-old has been fined £30,000 after being charged for placing 1,260 bets on matches between 26 March 2006 and 13 May 2016.
Barton claims that he has suffered from gambling addiction and that he plans to appeal against the length of the suspension.
