Liverpool’s Joe Gomez out for six weeks

Liverpool and England defender Joe Gomez may be out for up to six weeks after fracturing his leg.

The 21-year-old was taken off after 23 minutes in Liverpool’s win over Burnley on Wednesday - following a challenge with Clarets captain Ben Mee.

A Liverpool statement on Thursday said "initial indications" were that Gomez - who has played in 13 of Liverpool's 15 league games this season - would be out for up to six weeks, "though this is dependent on how his treatment and rehabilitation programmes progress".
