Martina Hingis to retire for the third time

Martina Hingis has announced that she will retire – for the third time.

The world number one doubles player and five-time Grand Slam singles champion will hang up her racket after this week's WTA Finals.

Hingis, 37, originally retired as a 22-year old in 2003 and then again in 2007 after a brief comeback.

The Swiss won this year's Wimbledon and US Open mixed doubles titles and regained the number one doubles ranking with Jamie Murray.
