Multiple medal winning cyclist retires aged 25

A multiple medal winning track cyclist has retired from racing at the tender age of 25.

Becky James, wo won the world sprint and keirin titles in 2013 and took silver at the same events at the 2016 Rio Olympics, has allegedly hung up her wheels to concentrate on a cake business.

The Welsh athlete has been plagued by injuries and ill health over the years, even undergoing treatment during a cervical cancer scare.

Her departure leaves a widening hole in the women’s team for Great Britain on the track, with Joanna Rowsell Shand having also announced retirement and Laura Kenny taking an extended break to have her first child.
