Andy Murray lost an epic five-set match in the first round of the Australian Open – in what is possibly the last time the three-time Grand Slam champion may play as a professional.
The former British and world number one was defeated by Roberto Bautista Agut in a thrilling bout played in front of a rapturous Melbourne crowd – finishing losing 6-4 6-4 6-7 (5-7) 6-7 (4-7) 6-2.
Murray, 31, said on Friday he would retire this year because of a chronic hip problem.
