Saudi Crown Prince denies Man Utd takeover bid

Saudi Arabia Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman has denied involvement with a takeover bid for Manchester United.

Salman’s media minister Turki al-Shabanah responded to rumours circulating over the weekend that he was linked to a £3.8 billion deal for the Premier League club: "Reports claiming that HRH the Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman intends to buy Manchester United are completely false.

"Manchester United held a meeting with PIF [Public Investment Fund] Saudi to discuss a sponsorship opportunity. No deal has materialised."

United's American owners, the Glazers, bought the club for £790m in May 2005.
