Serena Williams dream comeback continues as she progressed to the singles final of the US Open.
Williams, 36, beat Latvia’s Anastasija Sevastova 6-3 6-0 in the semi-final to give herself the chance of a record-equalling 24 Grand Slam titles – currently held by Margaret Court.
The six-times champion at Flushing Meadows only returned to the women's tour earlier this year after giving birth for the first time.
She said: "It is really incredible. A year ago I was literally fighting for my life at the hospital after having the baby.
"Every day I step out on this court I am so grateful to have an opportunity to play this sport.
"So no matter what happens in any match, I already feel like I have already won."
She will face the 20th seed, Japan’s Naomi Osaka. The 20-year-old will make history as she takes to the court on Saturday, becoming the first Japanese woman ever to reach a Grand Slam final.
